The Auxiliary
Police Department assists the community and the police in numerous
capacities. During the school year, the Auxiliary Police patrol the
school grounds and the buildings during weekend night patrols. In
the summer months, the patrols increase to include weeknight patrols.
The Auxiliary Police also safeguard the grounds and municipal buildings in the City of Waltham as well as the parks, playgrounds, and other public places. The Auxiliary Police enforce parking restrictions and aid in the daily operations of the Waltham Police Department when needed. Recently the Waltham Auxiliary Police Department added a bicycle unit. This four-officer unit provides added traffic and patrol support to the department. The bicycle officers patrol Main and Moody Streets as well as the Charles River Walk. |
